A client once told me that I was their home’s [autobiographical] ghost writer. What a compliment…and privilege! I had never heard my craft personified quite like this before and it really resonated with me! Am I able to articulate someone else’s story in the form of their home’s interior design and get it right??? Very humbling…
I am a people person at heart and that characteristic spills over onto my work. I make getting to know my clients a priority because, ultimately, their home must reflect them…not me. It’s a very personal thing, designing one’s inner sanctum. And just like the person, every home is unique. When asked what my “style” is as an interior designer, I have to admit that I have no one style! Please don’t confuse that with not having style! Quite the contrary. It’s just that I have an innate ability to “put on” the style of my client…to create their vision, their comfort level, their dream. My chameleon characteristics are my secret weapon! I am a self taught interior designer with my first client hiring me when I was 18 years old. My travels around the globe as a professional singer helped inform my design eye early on and my years on the stage have given me a flair for the dramatic, each home project taking on its own little storyline and set design. Over the past 35 years I have renovated, flipped and designed new builds, both residential and commercial, always relying on my keen design instincts, attention to detail and “boots on the ground” approach to guide the process. Whether I’m designing a large custom project or a petite floral arrangement, one thing is constant. I love what I do! I am passionate about my work and allow that enthusiasm to permeate into my interior design projects. Let’s create something beautiful together! …a bit more personal… |
